Poroshenko to submit draft amendments to Constitution by end of current parliamentary session
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko intends to submit draft amendments to the Constitution to the Verkhovna Rada by the end of the current parliamentary session.
"We're on the homestretch, and I expect a meeting of the Constitutional Commission soon and the effective presentation of the results of their to the Venice Commission... I am determined to submit these amendments to the Verkhovna Rada by the end of the current session," Poroshenko said during a meeting of the Regional Development Council in Kyiv on Friday.
Poroshenko expressed his hope that the parliamentary coalition will be able to bring constitutional amendments on decentralization, judiciary reform, and the abolition of lawmakers' immunity from prosecution to life.
