NBU enters interbank market with UAH 12.45-12.6/$1 quotations on Friday
The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) on Friday entered the interbank currency market with UAH 12.45-12.6/$1 quotations, NBU Governor Valeriya Gontareva told reporters on Friday.
As reported, the hryvnia on the interbank market before the central bank entered it continued weakening: the quotations reached UAH 12.5200-12.6600/$1.
A historic minimum of the hryvnia exchange rate to the U.S. dollar was registered on April 11, 2014 on the interbank, when some quotations reached UAH 13.90/$1:
The Finance Ministry worsened the average hryvnia exchange rate in 2014 from UAH 10.5/$1 to UAH 12/$1 due to the impact of the protracted armed conflict in the east of Ukraine.
The International Monetary Fund believes that the hryvnia exchange of UAH 10-13/$1 is in line with the fundamental indicators of Ukraine in the medium-term outlook.
