Klympush-Tsintsadze: We counting on joint vision with USA on issue of helping Ukraine in its fight for sovereignty

Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the European Union Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze (the European Solidarity faction) expects that the United States will have a common understanding with Ukraine on the issue of helping it in its fight for sovereignty.

"We should probably start by congratulating the newly elected president and his team. And it is obvious that we all, as Ukrainians, expect that despite the various statements that were made during the election campaign, we will continue to be able to find a common vision regarding why and how the United States will help Ukraine in its struggle for sovereignty, independence and, in fact, security not only for itself, but also for the region and the world," Klympush-Tsintsadze told Interfax-Ukraine on Wednesday.

She said it is still unknown what exactly President Donald Trump's policy towards Ukraine will be in his next term.

"It seems to me that this will depend on a large number of factors and on how much we, as Ukrainians, with one voice, by combining our efforts, both within the country and with our partners from NATO member countries, the European continent, and the free world countries in general, will be able to convey the common interest that exists for both us and the United States in Russia being defeated in this war," the MP said.

According to Klympush-Tsintsadze, this interest lies in truly ensuring security, prosperity, and well-being for every citizen of the United States.

"And if this is what the Trump administration is aiming for, then this means, among other things, fighting and counteracting autocracies and the axis of evil that the Russian Federation has formed… Unfortunately, if someone decides to succumb to the pressure of the axis of evil, then this will mean that the forces of evil have proposed new rules of the game to the entire world. This means a large number of additional explosive conflicts in the world," the MP said.

She said this would also mean a serious undermining of U.S. interests not only in the security sphere, but also in the economic sector.

Commenting on the victory of the Republicans in the Senate elections and their likely victory in the House of Representatives elections, Klympush-Tsintsadze said: "We need to very carefully analyze the newly elected representatives of the Republican Party who have now entered both the Senate and Congress. Obviously, to activate all the connections that we have with those who previously worked in Congress and to jointly seek that rational, pragmatic, joint approach to get a solution that is critically important for us – we need continued assistance from the United States and the leadership of the United States in countering the axis of evil in the world."

According to the head of the committee, the Ukrainian parliament and Ukrainian diplomats have a lot of serious work to do.

Klympush-Tsintsadze also expressed the wish that Ukraine would abandon the practice of limiting the connections of parties with their counterparts in the United States.

"I would very much like us to finally abandon in Ukraine the restrictions on the maximum use of all network connections of various parties with our counterparts in the United States," the head of the committee said.

She said representatives of European Solidarity were repeatedly banned "from attending events that are platforms for interaction with the conservative parties of the world, including the Republican Party."
