MP Zadorozhny suspected of accepting UAH 3 mln bribe to repair infrastructure in Sumy region – SAPO
Law enforcement officers notified a member of Ukraine's parliament of suspicion for demanding undue benefits for not obstructing the repair of infrastructure facilities in Sumy region, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) said.
"SAPO prosecutors and NABU detectives exposed a MP of Ukraine who demanded an undue benefit for not interfering with the repair work of infrastructure facilities in Sumy region. The MP was informed of suspicion of committing crimes under Part 4 of Article 368 and Part 3 of Article 27, Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine," the SAPO said on its Telegram channel on Monday.
As part of the pre-trial investigation, it was established that the MP demanded 14% of the amount of funds that were allocated for the repair of the water supply system in Okhtyrsky district of Sumy region, of which 10% were intended for him personally and 4% for local law enforcement officers, who should not have interfered with utilization of allocated funds. According to the investigation, we are talking about UAH 3.4 million.
The actions of the suspect are qualified under Part 4 of Article 368 and Part 3 of Article 27, Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The issue of choosing a preventive measure for him is now being decided.
Law enforcement officers are identifying other persons involved in the commission of this crime.
The statement does not indicate the name of the person involved, however, as Interfax-Ukraine found out, this is about MP of the ninth convocation Mykola Zadorozhny.
