Since the beginning of 2025, some 324 MW of new wind power plant capacities have been built in Ukraine, while in the previous two years - between 2022 and the first quarter of 2025, some 248 MW of new wind power plants were commissioned.

This was reported by Andriy Konechenkov, Chairman of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association (UWEA), at the press conference "Wind Energy and BESS in 2025: Year of New Solutions, Challenges, and Growth" held by the news agency Interfax-Ukraine on Friday.

"Currently, about 40% of this capacity is already connected to the grid and generating electricity. The rest is in the testing phase, and companies have promised that, if not by the end of this year, then by the end of the first quarter of 2026 – all 324 MW will be generating electricity," he said.

In addition, according to Konechenkov, new wind power projects totaling 4.5 GW are still under development in Ukraine, of which 44% are located in the western regions, 34% in the central regions, and the remaining 22% in the south, primarily in Odesa and Mykolaiv regions.

According to UWEA, the total installed capacity of wind farms in Ukraine currently stands at 2.3 GW, of which 1.3 GW are located in temporarily occupied territories.

The country also has 534 MW of total installed capacity in battery energy storage systems (BESS).
