National Guard repels Russian mechanized assault near Dobropillia
Ukrainian Defense Forces have repelled another assault by Russian troops in the Dobropillia area, in the Donetsk region, the press service of the National Guard of Ukraine has said.
"On the morning of December 22, the movement of four enemy columns in the direction of Dobropillya was detected in the area of responsibility of the 1st Corps of the Azov National Guard. During the assault on the city, the enemy attracted 24 units of armored vehicles," the report says.
As a result of the battle, at least four tanks were destroyed, several more units of armored vehicles were hit.
According to the military, as a result of the strikes, the following were destroyed: tanks – 2, tanks in cooperation with other units - 2. In addition, the following were hit: armored combat vehicles - 6; tanks - 6; armored personnel carrier - 1; ATV – 1, personnel - 4 Russian servicemen.
"A significant role in stopping the enemy was played by the mining carried out by Lasar's Group drones and engineering units of the 1st Corps of the Azov National Guard," the National Guard added. The elimination of enemy personnel who participated in the assault is currently underway.
