Trypilska, Zmiivska TPPs of Centrenergo have taken more than 200 hits, with losses in 2024 exceeding UAH 12.5 bln – supervisory board chair

The Trypilska and Zmiivska thermal power plants of PJSC Centrenergo have sustained more than 200 direct hits during shelling over the course of the war, with losses in 2024 alone estimated at more than UAH 12.5 billion, according to Andriy Hota, chairman of the company’s supervisory board.

"In total, our two TPPs have already taken more than 200 hits. Losses from shelling in 2024 alone are estimated at more than UAH 12.5 billion. An assessment of the massive attacks in 2025 is currently under way. However, indirect losses in the form of electricity not generated due to downtime after attacks are already at the level of UAH 25 billion," Hota said in an interview with the Energy Reform online portal.

As reported, Centrenergo operates the Trypilska Thermal Power Plant in Kyiv region and the Zmiivska Thermal Power Plant in Kharkiv region. The company’s Vuhlehirska Thermal Power Plant in Donetsk region has been occupied since mid-summer 2022. The first heavy strike on the Trypilska TPP occurred in April 2024, while the Zmiivska TPP was struck in December 2022.

The current supervisory board has been in place since August 2023. At that time, it appointed Andriy Churkin, former director of PJSC Kharkivenerhozbut, as CEO of Centrenergo. In July 2024, he was replaced by the company’s technical director, Yevhen Harkavy.

Applications for the competition to select candidates for Centrenergo’s supervisory board – three independent members and two state representatives – are being accepted until December 23. In the interview, Hota noted that he will not apply to participate in the competition and will leave the company.
