Kyiv police detain shooter in city center

Kyiv police detained a 28-year-old local resident involved in a gun fight in the central part of Kyiv.

In the telegram channel on Monday, the Kyiv police reminded that on December 21, at around midnight, law enforcement officers received a report of a fight near Bessarabskaya Square.

"The investigation established that a dispute arose on the street between two men, which escalated into a scuffle. During the fight, one of the participants in the conflict fired a shot in the air, after which the offenders left the scene," the report said.

Police identified two people involved in the incident.

"Currently, based on the results of search measures, law enforcement officers have identified and detained the shooter - he turned out to be a 28-year-old local resident," the police reported.

A pre-trial investigation into the incident is underway, initiated under Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - hooliganism with the use of firearms.

The identification of all participants in the incident and the clarification of the role of each is ongoing.
