Zelenskyy, Macron discuss forms of security guarantees for Ukraine
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron in Poland following the ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau Nazi concentration camp on Monday, January 27. They discussed continued support for Ukraine and possible forms of security guarantees for Ukraine.
"I met with President of France Emmanuel Macron. We discussed further support for Ukraine. Special attention was given to security cooperation, particularly possible formats for security guarantees for Ukraine and Europe as a whole. We are counting on the support of France in the negotiation process for EU accession," the Ukrainian head of state said in a Telegram message.
Zelenskyy also expressed gratitude to Macron for support of Ukraine and military assistance. Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, France has provided EUR 6 billion in defense aid.
