Outages introduced as preventive measures, due to damage to power equipment – adviser to PM
Emergency power outages are associated with both preventive measures to maintain the balance of the power system and with damage to power equipment in a number of regions, adviser to the Prime Minister of Ukraine, member of the Supervisory Board of Ukrenergo Yuriy Boiko said.
"Electricity restrictions can be associated both with preventive measures and directly with damage to power equipment. Within two hours after the end of the alarm, when it becomes possible to examine the consequences of the combined attack, we will better understand the state of affairs in the power system, and it will be possible to orient consumers on the timing of the restoration of power supply," he said at a briefing in the Ukrainian media center in Kyiv on Monday.
According to him, the official release from Ukrenergo should be expected approximately after lunch. At the same time, Boiko explained that during the attack there were restrictions on the output of power from power plants, including nuclear ones.
"There were nuances related to the limitation of power output, including from nuclear power plants. One of the consequences of this is that not everyone has power," he said.
Boiko noted that even a preliminary analysis of the missile-drone attack indicates that this was one of the most massive attacks by Russians in Ukraine.
"According to reports from the regions, there are many nuances related to damage to power equipment. This attack covered the entire territory of Ukraine. There are emergency shutdowns practically all over Ukraine," he added.
