Stoltenberg: decisions taken by NATO summit on Ukraine - bridge to its membership
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg says that the decisions taken during the Washington summit regarding Ukraine are a bridge to its membership in the organization.
He said this in Washington on Thursday at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, which took place after the bilateral meeting.
“President Zelenskyy, in our meeting just now, you and I agreed that all of these elements – a NATO command; more funding; more military support; more security agreements; and more interoperability; constitute a bridge to NATO membership, and a very strong package for Ukraine. Ukraine’s future is in NATO,” he said.
Stoltenberg welcomed Ukraine's progress in implementing reforms. “As you continue this important work, we will support you on your irreversible path to NATO membership,” the Secretary General added.
