Kuleba believes massive Russian strike related to agreement with Poland, NATO summit

The massive Russian missile attack on Ukraine on July 8 is connected with a powerful Ukrainian-Polish security agreement and with the NATO summit in Washington, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said.

"I have no doubt that the Russian missile attack on Ukraine yesterday is related to a powerful security agreement, which was signed by the President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of Poland, which has truly revolutionary provisions for strengthening Ukrainian defense capability and with the NATO summit," Kuleba said in the telethon from Washington on the eve of the NATO summit.

According to the minister, "this is all a deliberate demonstration of strength, ruthlessness and criminality of its nature on the part of Russia."

He said Russia needs to provide a comprehensive, powerful response to this missile attack. "That is, a powerful defense and diplomatic blow. And the decisions that were made in Poland are the first step. The decisions that will be made at the NATO summit are the second," Kuleba said.

He also said decisions at the summit will concern "real, practical things" regarding what and what weapons, in particular air defense systems, Ukraine will receive.

"Wait a little and you will see everything. It will be a strong, effective response," the minister said.

In addition, Kuleba said Ukraine is working on another solution, "which does not depend directly on NATO, but depends on the United States, and this will be discussed during contacts with American officials and other close partners – permission to use long-range weapons according to Russian military airfields on the territory of Russia."
