Russia tries to block Ukraine's participation in UN Security Council meeting due to Russian massive attack on Ukraine – Kuleba
Russia abusing its right as chairman of the UN Security Council, tried to block Ukraine's participation in the meeting initiated in connection with the Russian massive attack on Ukraine on July 8, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said.
"When we launched the process of holding this meeting, the first thing Russia tried to do was abuse its right as chairman, trying to block Ukraine's participation in the meeting dedicated to the shelling of Ukraine. This attempt speaks for itself. We have successfully overcome it," Kuleba said during a telethon from Washington on the eve of the NATO summit.
According to the minister, the meeting of the UN Security Council is important because "the history of Okhmatdyt will sound very powerful throughout the world." He also said the meeting is important so that "the governments of all countries hear their positions at the Security Council."
"I have no doubt that Russia will lie today and tell the Security Council that it is not them, as always. And it is also important for the world to hear this lie, since Ukraine has irrefutable evidence that it was Russia," Kuleba said.
The Foreign Minister said the Security Council meeting will help mobilize support for Ukraine both in the issue of restoring Okhmatdyt and in other issues, in particular in the context of the Ukrainian Peace Formula.
