Ukrainian Red Cross, its partners to finance restoration of Okhmatdyt for UAH 40 mln
The Ukrainian Red Cross Society together with partners is allocating UAH 40 million for the restoration of the Okhmatdyt children's hospital complex in Kyiv and calls on everyone to support the children's medical institution damaged by shelling on July 8.
"The funds will be used to restore the hospital complex and ensure access for young patients to medical services, as well as support for victims. The project is being implemented in cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Okhmatdyt and the Center for Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery of the Ministry of Health," according to the society Facebook page on Wednesday.
URCS has been a long-term reliable partner of Okhmatdyt in various areas, including the provision of equipment, medical supplies, support for patients and their parents.
"We urge all concerned to join the initiative so that children from all over Ukraine receive treatment for cancer, spinal injuries and various serious diseases as soon as possible. As reported, a Russian missile strike on Monday damaged four medical buildings and one administrative building at Okhmatdyt. About 50 people were injured, two doctors died. The toxicology building with the department of chronic and acute intoxications, where dialysis is carried out, was completely destroyed. Almost all the windows in the old surgical building were broken, two surgical and two somatic departments, an intensive care unit and an operating unit were damaged. In the new building of Okhmatdyt, some 12 departments were damaged, including eight surgical departments, five oncological departments, two intensive care units, an operating unit, and a radiology and radiation therapy department. Part of the only oncohematology laboratory in Ukraine was destroyed.
