Moldova ready to become logistics hub in Ukraine’s recovery – FM
The Republic of Moldova, which has a long border with Ukraine, is ready to become an important strategic center for the reconstruction of Ukraine, Moldovan Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi has said.
"We have confirmed our readiness to contribute to the post-war reconstruction efforts in Ukraine. We consider the geographical position of the Republic of Moldova suitable to serve as a logistics center in the efforts to rebuild Ukraine," Popșoi said at a joint press conference with his Ukrainian and Romanian colleagues following the results of the trilateral meeting in Chisinau.
Popșoi also said that the countries discussed specific projects to combine the electric power system of the Republic of Moldova with the energy systems of Ukraine and Romania, which will have a great regional impact. In addition, the topics of the development of projects dedicated to the production of green hydrogen using renewable energy sources were raised.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed the possibilities of increasing the efficiency and volume of transit of goods, especially grain, from and to Ukraine, to the territory of the Republic of Moldova and Romania, in the context of the solidarity roads corridor.
"At the same time, we have gathered here in Chisinau this time to confirm our full support for Ukraine and its democratic values in Europe," the minister said.
In addition, he stressed that now is the best time to invest in the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. "The EU countries investing in our country not only support us, but also contribute to the broader goal of ensuring peace and stability in the entire region," Popșoi said.
