Umerov calls for granting Ukraine permission to use Western weapons at greater distance

Defense Minister of Ukraine Rustem Umerov, during an address to the participants of the session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, called for Ukraine to be allowed to use Western weapons at a greater distance, and also appealed to neighboring countries to close the skies over the Ukrainian western regions from their territory.

“We need more long-range capabilities, more determination of partners to protect our people and our lands from terrorist attacks. I emphasized this in my online address to the participants of the session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, which took place today in the Bulgarian capital Sofia,” Umerov wrote on Facebook.

He stressed that Russia is trying to destroy everything that it cannot capture, continues to kill and terrorize civilians, innocent people.

“To stop this, I called for us to be given permission to use Western weapons at a greater distance. He stressed that Russian attacks on our energy facilities pose a threat to our neighbors as well,” Umerov said.

The defense minister also appealed to the neighboring NATO member countries, which cannot provide us with their air defense systems, to close the skies over the Ukrainian western regions from their territory.
