Czech Republic to tighten passport control for refugees arriving from Ukraine

The Czech Republic will tighten passport control for refugees arriving from Ukraine, Czech Interior Minister Vít Rakušan said.

"We have come up with another system solution. This is a tightening of measures. In order to receive a benefit from us, a person must have an actual stamp in his passport stating that he crossed the border of Ukraine. This should be applied from next Monday," Rakušan said, Blesk.cz reported on Wednesday.

According to him, some of the refugees come from Hungary, not from Ukraine, and in the Czech Republic they check whether they have a double passport.

Rakušan noted that if these people are Ukrainians and have a stamp that they crossed the Ukrainian border and are fleeing the war, then they will be included in the system and will be provided with housing, like everyone else.
