Tanker Tamansky returned to Ukraine after 10-month fight with offshore shippers
Ukraine's State Fish Agency has said that oil tanker Tamansky worth around $1 million has been returned to Ukraine after 10-month fight with offshore shippers
The agency said on its website that on May 25 Tamansky arrived to the port of Illichivsk.
A long lawsuit in Turkey with offshore shipper Сowen Management S.A. (Bahamas) affiliated with Russia preceded the return of the ship to Ukraine. The shipper created an artificial debt for ship repairs. It then attempted to illegally sell the ship using Turkish law enforcement agencies.
Since July 2015, the ship has not entered open sea. The previous crew did not receive wages and in December 2015 abandoned the vessel..
The State Fish Agency intends to assess the ship after its one-year idle period.
