Fedorov at Ramstein: Ukraine to present 18 projects; allies to announce new contributions to Ukraine's defense
Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov presented the allies with the vision and specific goals in the defense sector for this year at a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the Ramstein format.
As reported by an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent, he announced this at the opening of the 33rd meeting in the Ramstein format in Brussels on Thursday.
"At the meeting, I will present our vision and specific goals in the field of defense for this year. I will present 18 specific projects that we are already working on together with partners and for which we will attract funding. Among them are financing of Ukrainian-made drones and missiles, as well as the creation of drone assault units. Our partners will announce new contributions to the defense of Ukraine," he said.
The minister said "this is extremely important for supporting the military – providing drones, ammunition, air defense means."
"We came not only with needs. But with solutions, experience, data and a clear plan. We understand what we can give NATO: data and defense solutions. Ukraine is ready to contribute to our common security," the minister said.
In the meantime, Fedorov said that today Russia carried out one of the largest ballistic attacks on Ukraine – over 20 missiles were launched.
"Defending the sky is a key priority identified by President Zelenskyy. Another challenge for us in this domain is long-range drones. We will improve the system of countering Shahed UAVs and protect our cities. Organizational changes have already been made in the field of air defense, key personnel decisions have been made. The creation of a multi-level system of 'small' air defense and interceptors has been launched," the minister said.
He also appealed to all partners with a request to increase sanctions pressure on Russia, limit the activities of the Russian "shadow fleet," stop all Russian tankers.
