Fedorov at Ramstein urges allies to transfer PAC-3 missiles to protect Ukraine's energy infrastructure
Defense Minister of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov, who is attending the first meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the Ramstein format after his appointment, urged allies to urgently transfer PAC-3 missiles to Ukraine to strengthen Ukrainian air defense and increase contributions to the PURL initiative.
As reported by an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent, he announced this at the opening of the 33rd meeting in the Ramstein format in Brussels on Thursday.
"The most effective means of countering ballistic missiles are PAC-3 missiles for Patriot systems. We critically need means to intercept ballistic missiles, because Russia wants to destroy our critical infrastructure this winter. I urge partners to urgently transfer PAC-3 missiles from their warehouses to Ukraine to protect our energy sector in the winter. I also urge partners to increase contributions to the PURL program, through which we also receive PAC-3 and other critical interceptor missiles," the minister said.
He said for the updated team of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set a clear task: to build a system that is capable of stopping the enemy in the sky, advancing on the ground, strengthening asymmetric and cyber strikes on the enemy and its economy, and also making the price of war for Russia such that it will not be able to bear.
"Our approach to war is already yielding results – the losses of the Russian army are increasing. In December, Russia suffered record losses, 35,000 soldiers, killed and seriously wounded. All these losses are verified and have video confirmation. Our goal is at least 50,000 confirmed enemy losses every month," Fedorov said.
