239 repair crews stabilize heat and light situation in Kyiv – Shmyhal

The electricity shortage in Kyiv persists and 239 repair crews are working to stabilize electricity and heat supply in the capital, First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said following a meeting of the headquarters for liquidating the consequences of Russian shelling of the energy sector in Kyiv and the region.

"Ukraine’s electricity deficit persists. In the capital, 239 repair crews work on stabilizing heat and power supplies today. A total of 307 high-capacity generators are operating at critical sites, with another 40 expected. Efforts are underway to reinforce energy repair teams," Shmyhal wrote on Telegram.

The prime minister also commented on the switch to temporary power outage schedules.

Kyiv moved to temporary outage schedules overnight, Shmyhal said. Due to the nature of the damage to the energy system, the schedules are strict and vary by district and even by building. However, under such emergency conditions, they provide a degree of predictability, he said in a Telegram post.
