AFU strengthens system of intercepting Shahed UAVs, forming separate divisions of unmanned air defense systems - Syrsky
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, held a monthly meeting dedicated to countering enemy "shaheeds", listened to reports from the commander of the newly created unmanned air defense systems, representatives of the Air Force, the Unmanned Systems Forces, Army Aviation, the Air Defense of the Ground Forces Command, the Logistics Forces, and other military command bodies.
"Our key task at this stage is to strengthen the direction of UAV interceptors, increase the number of relevant drones, ground stations and radars, and increase the volume and quality of crew training. This project has been implemented for a long time and has my full support. Within the framework of an echeloned system, at a certain distance from large cities, interception lines are being created. The number of applications of UAV interceptors and their effectiveness is gradually increasing," he wrote on social networks.
At the same time, the commander-in-chief emphasized the need to intensify this work, accelerate the purchase of appropriate weapons and equipment, and strengthen the manning of relevant units.
"We continue to form separate divisions of unmanned air defense systems. We are creating regular UAV interceptor units as part of training grounds (training centers). To counter the "shaheeds", we are simultaneously attracting additional resources from army aviation and small aviation, and we are attracting the support of international partners for this," - noted Syrsky.
According to him, during the meeting, problematic issues and ways to solve them were discussed. The commander-in-chief emphasized that the enemy is taking advantage of weather conditions, modernizing its strike drones and changing the tactics of their use, attacking at ultra-low altitudes.
"Accordingly, we are modernizing our methods of counteraction and changing the system for the sake of the necessary results. I thank every soldier, every unit that effectively performs such tasks," - the message says.
Separately, the commander-in-chief emphasized that the Russian aggressor does not change its intentions to seize the territory of Ukraine and plunge peaceful cities and villages into "blackouts." "Ukraine’s real results in protecting and strengthening military positions strengthen the ground for the work of diplomacy," he said.
