Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the shelling by the Russian occupiers on the eve of Christmas Eve despicable and reported on the work of energy workers to provide consumers with light for the holiday.

"The energy sector was the main target. But, unfortunately, there are both losses and injuries. Repair crews are working all day at energy facilities - maximum efforts so that Ukrainians have light for Christmas. Of course, the Russians are trying to break both this holiday and this holy day. They are not surprised. This is such a country, such a neighbor," Zelenskyy said in an evening video address on Tuesday.

"It is important that the world sees this and sees that it cannot be left like this. Ukraine needs support every day - both on holidays and weekdays - needs missiles for air defense, financing for weapons production, needs assistance for our stability. And this is exactly what we are providing," the president added.

He also reported on the report of the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andriy Hnatov on the results of work on the draft peace agreement with the American side.

"We feel that America wants to reach a final agreement, and from our side - full cooperation. Ukraine has never been and will not be an obstacle to peace... The main thing is that Russia does not disrupt this diplomacy and is one hundred percent serious about ending the war. If not, there must be additional pressure on Russia, the world has all the tools to make the pressure work, so that there is peace," Zelenskyy said.
