Ukrainian diplomacy in 2026 to focus on army, defense industry, pressure on Russia, just peace – MFA

Ukrainian diplomacy passed 2025 with dignity and principle, confirming its effectiveness in conditions of a full-scale war, said Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha following an online meeting with heads of foreign diplomatic institutions, at which he discussed with them further key tasks outlined by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday at events marking the Diplomatic Service Day.

"In 2026, the entire diplomatic team will focus on protecting our state's national interests, strengthening the Ukrainian military, and achieving a just peace based on respect for international law and the UN Charter. The main priorities will also be forming effective security guarantees, developing the defense industry, strengthening sanctions against the aggressor, making progress on the path to EU membership, supporting our economy, and providing consular protection to Ukrainian citizens abroad," Sybiha wrote on Facebook Wednesday.

According to Sybiha, ambassadors were given an additional urgent task: "strengthening our air defense." They also agreed on a plan of action and international contacts from the first days of the new year.
