Nearly 30 containers with flour, oil catch fire at Ukraine's Pivdenny port due to nighttime shelling – Dpty PM

As a result of enemy strikes on the night of December 21–22, about 30 containers with flour and vegetable oil caught fire at the Pivdenny port in Odesa region, and efforts to deal with the aftermath are ongoing, Deputy Prime Minister for Recovery and Minister for Communities Development Oleksiy Kuleba reported.

"Last night, ports and energy facilities once again came under shelling. At the Pivdenny port, a strike caused a fire – about 30 containers with flour and vegetable oil caught fire. Port workers and all relevant services are working on site," he wrote on Telegram on Monday.

According to Kuleba, more than 120,000 customers in Odesa region remain without electricity due to damage to energy infrastructure.

At the same time, critical infrastructure facilities have been connected to alternative power sources, and the region has heat and water supply, the deputy prime minister said. He added that restoration work is also continuing in Zhytomyr region, where damage to railway infrastructure had previously been recorded.

"Two locomotive drivers were injured. They are receiving the necessary medical assistance. Specialists are working at the scene. Thanks to all services working around the clock to eliminate the consequences of Russian attacks," the deputy prime minister said.

As reported, a freight train accident near the Ukrainian city of Korosten (Zhytomyr region) was likely caused by an enemy UAV attack. The train derailed near Korosten, triggering emergency braking and the derailment of the locomotive of passenger train No. 45/46 Kharkiv–Uzhgorod.
