Trump: Ukraine and Russia should decide for themselves when to hold high level meeting
The Russian and Ukrainian sides need to decide for themselves when they are ready to hold a summit, US President Donald Trump said on Monday.
“You ought to work it out,” Trump said during a meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung at the White House, answering a question about the timing of such talks.
He noted that the leaders of Russia and Ukraine should hold a separate bilateral meeting, “before I have a meeting and probably close the deal.”
At the same time, Trump noted that he could not guarantee that the meeting of the presidents would take place.
“I don't know that they'll meet. Maybe they will. Maybe they won't. They'd like me to be at the meeting,” said the head of the White House.
