Shmyhal backs arms exports after Ukrainian forces are fully supplied

Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal has stated the need to open the international arms market for Ukraine, provided that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are 100% provided with a certain type of weapon.

"The Defense City bill, which most weapons manufacturers are extremely anticipating, will allow not only to receive appropriate benefits and structure assistance for our weapons manufacturers, but will also allow us to consider active participation in the Build with Ukraine part, that is, in fact, the export and quasi-export of our weapons to places where we lack funds for procurement, or where there is more production than there is a need in Ukraine," Shmyhal said during the presentation of the government's action program on Monday.

The minister emphasized that "it is necessary to open the international arms market for Ukraine."

"We need to start this on the condition that the front line, our Armed Forces are 100% provided with this type of product: then we will be able to move on to considering export contracts and increasing our export potential," he added.
