President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes in a quick ceasefire, because for this purpose it is possible to put political pressure on the one who disrupts the truce and ultimately the war end.

"As for a quick ceasefire, I believe, yes, that it can be done quickly... The issue of a ceasefire for a month, for two months is a window of opportunity when you can make a plan and try to put pressure on anyone who disrupts it, but you can end the war," Zelenskyy said during a Zoom briefing for journalists.

The president clarified that thanks to a ceasefire, a certain phase of the war can be ended, for example, a "hot" one.

At the same time, according to the president, a ceasefire for years is a freezing of the conflict, not an end to the war.

Speaking about Vladimir Putin's position on a ceasefire, the president noted that he does not want a ceasefire, because he is not in a weak position on the battlefield.

"He has this situation in his hands [the advantage on the battlefield]. He does not want us to have even one soldier in Kursk region. He is accumulating troops to strike at us and to put more pressure. This is his understandable tactic in all directions - to scare people, to hit with missiles, to give himself better conditions in one or another format of ending the war," Zelenskyy said.

The Ukrainian leader noted that it is possible to achieve a complete ceasefire on the front, because Putin has been saying all previous years that it is Ukraine that does not want a ceasefire and that Ukraine is breaking all agreements.

"Ukraine wants a ceasefire and Putin will have to find a way out in this situation, because the world will not understand him," Zelenskyy emphasized.
