Danish Defense Minister on freeze of U.S. aid to Ukraine: Situation is very serious, Europe must do much more, faster

Ukraine needs strong international support, which is why Europe must do much more and much faster, said Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen.

“I can only express my great regret about what the Americans have decided. They are helping to put Ukraine in a difficult situation when it needs as much support as possible. Therefore, the announcement of the termination of military support means that Europe must act much faster,” the minister told the Danish TV channel TV 2.

He stressed that “there is a need for much greater speed from Europe and the need for us in Europe to make a decision in the next few days to allocate an additional one billion euros to the Ukrainian defense industry.”

Poulsen told Ritzau that the decision to suspend aid was “a very serious situation.”

According to the defense minister, it would have a serious impact on Ukraine. “It would have an impact on the battlefield, and not least on the ability of Ukrainians to defend themselves. There are things that Ukrainians are completely dependent on in relation to the Americans,” he added.
