Trudeau on possible sending of Canadian troops to Ukraine: everything is on table

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau does not rule out the participation of Canadian troops in the deployment of a foreign contingent in Ukraine within the guaranteed security.

At a press conference following the results of the summit on Ukraine in London on Sunday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated that Canada has been exploring every possible way to assist Ukraine. He reiterated that, as he mentioned a few days ago, all options are on the table. Trudeau acknowledged that the Canadian military could play a role in contributing to the efforts. However, he clarified that discussions on how to maintain peace, which has yet to be achieved, would not be rushed. He assured that Canada would be ready to do whatever is necessary, but emphasized that these decisions would be made in the coming years by the Canadian people and their government.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau emphasized that Canada has been one of the strongest supporters of Ukraine from the very beginning, for over 10 years. He pointed out that, during this time, Canada has trained around 40,000 Ukrainian military personnel. Additionally, he mentioned that Canada has invested approximately $20 billion in support of Ukraine, including military, economic, and other forms of assistance.

Trudeau further assured that Canada would continue to support Ukraine "by all means possible" and for as long as necessary. He explained that Ukraine is not only defending its own territory but also the principles and values that form the foundation of all democratic nations. As Canada looks ahead to the future, he guaranteed that both the country and its citizens would remain committed to supporting Ukraine.
