Zelenskyy: Some 160,000 residents in Odesa left without heat and electricity after Russian attack

Russian invaders attacked the energy infrastructure immediately after the statements of Russian representatives at the talks with the United States in Riyadh that they allegedly do not hit the energy sector, said President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“Just yesterday, after the notorious meeting in Riyadh, it became clear that Russian representatives were once again lying, claiming they do not target Ukraine’s energy sector. Yet, almost simultaneously, they launched another attack, with drones striking electrical transformers. And this is during winter – it was minus 6 degrees Celsius at night,” Zelenskyy said on X Wednesday morning.

According to him, at least 160,000 Odesa residents are now without heat and electricity. “Thirteen schools, a kindergarten, and several hospitals have also been left without power or heating. Repair crews are working tirelessly, and all municipal services are engaged. I am grateful to every rescuer and to everyone helping people,” the president informed.

According to him, “civilian energy facilities have been targeted – for nearly three years now, the Russian army has relentlessly used missiles and attack drones against them.” “We must never forget that Russia is ruled by pathological liars – they cannot be trusted and must be pressured. For the sake of peace,” Zelenskyy said.

As reported, as a result of the enemy attack in Odesa on the night of February 19, four civilians were injured, including one child, as well as a number of schools, kindergartens and more than 500 houses.
