Macron: Without reliable security guarantees for Ukraine, ceasefire to end same way as Minsk agreements

Russia must stop its aggression, and this must be accompanied by strong and reliable security guarantees for Ukrainians, French President Emmanuel Macron said on Platform X following the informal meeting of European leaders he convened in Paris.
"After gathering several European leaders, I just spoke with President Trump and then with President Zelenskyy," Macron wrote.
In his opinion, for the sake of a strong and lasting peace in Ukraine, "Russia must stop its aggression, and this must be accompanied by strong and reliable security guarantees for Ukrainians. Otherwise, there is a risk that this ceasefire will end the same way as the Minsk agreements."
The French President also called on European governments "to invest better, more and together in their security and defense now and in the future."
"Based on the proposals of the European Commission, work will continue both to support Ukraine and to develop and invest in our defense. We simply must implement this agenda, defined in 2022 at the Versailles summit. Decisions, actions, coordination. And as quickly as possible," Macron wrote, announcing the continuation of the discussions.
