Shmyhal on reforming medical and social expert commissions: 291 healthcare facilities identified, over 1,476 expert teams formed
Some 291 healthcare facilities have already been identified, where more than 1,476 expert teams of over 5,000 practicing doctors have been formed to assess individuals' daily functioning, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has said.
"On January 1, on the instructions of the President of Ukraine, an important reform of medical and social expert commissions started, which will continue and improve throughout 2025. Thus, already on January 1, the medical and social expert commissions ceased their activities. They are being replaced by a new assessment system of individuals' daily functioning, which is carried out by expert teams of practicing doctors in multidisciplinary hospitals. The assessment can be conducted in-person, remotely, or on-site. All information will be recorded in an electronic system," Shmyhal said in the Telegram channel.
According to him, 291 healthcare facilities have already been identified, where more than 1,476 expert teams of over 5,000 practicing doctors have been formed.
He said that as of the evening of January 1, 2025, over 40,000 cases, the consideration of which was delayed in the medical and social expert commissions, were transferred to the expert teams. These cases will be considered in the first quarter of 2025. In addition, he reported on the already launched electronic system and the digitization of more than 30,000 cases. "The reform of the medical and social expert commission is not only a change to an outdated system, but also the beginning of a large-scale process of transforming government support, which should help an individual return to the most active and fulfilling life in society possible," Shmyhal said.
