Plane down by Russian Pantsir-S1 air defense system on Russian territory – Budanov
Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Agency of the Ministry of Defense, told the military weekly The WarZone that the Embraer plane of Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) was shot down by a missile from the Russian Pantsir-S1 air defense system.
"As far as we know, the plane was shot down by the Russian Pantsir-S1 air defense system on Russian territory," Lieutenant General Budanov said.
It was previously reported that the version with Russian air defense was also published by Euronews and Reuters, citing Azerbaijani government sources.
