Putin claims Slovakia ready to provide platform for talks between Russia, Ukraine
Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico has proposed holding talks on a peaceful settlement of the war between Russia and Ukraine on the territory of his country, Vladimir Putin said.
"As for the venue, he [Fico] said that if it comes to negotiations, they would be happy to provide his country's platform for such negotiations," Russian media said, citing Putin.
According to him, "Slovakia takes such a neutral position." "From our point of view, this position is neutral and this is an acceptable option for us," Putin said.
He also claims that Russia "also seeks to end the conflict." The head of the aggressor state also commented on the statements of representatives of the current and future U.S. administrations that the war in Ukraine could allegedly be frozen under the condition of a "guaranteed delay in Ukraine's entry into NATO for 10-20 years."
"What difference does it make to us – today, tomorrow or in 10 years? And in this sense – I am not familiar with these statements by the future team of the elected president – but if this is so, then what is the difference between the current administration and the proposals you just mentioned? There is no difference. I do not know how the situation will develop further, what the elected president's instructions will be to his colleagues in the administration. We will see," Putin said.
