Enemy hasn't accumulated enough forces, equipment to cross Dnieper – South Defense Forces
According to intelligence, the enemy has not accumulated enough offensive forces and means to cross the Dnieper River for an offensive on Kherson, Spokesperson for the South Defense Forces Vladyslav Voloshyn has said on Wednesday.
"An offensive on Kherson requires crossing such a large water obstacle as the Dnieper River. To cross it, it is necessary to accumulate enough forces and equipment, which it is very hard to hide from the modern means of reconnaissance. So far, our intelligence has not revealed and cannot say that the enemy has gathered enough offensive forces and means to cross the Dnieper," he said on the national telethon.
According to the spokesperson, the enemy is now conducting approximately five to seven assault attempts, which look more like reconnaissance and search operations.
"What an assault looks like: it is two or three boats, five to seven people trying to land on our shore or in the island zone, in particular, on the Kozatsky Island, conduct assault operations there, knock our defenders out of there. Almost all of this island zone of the Dnieper is under fire control of the Ukrainian defense forces," he said.
Voloshyn noted that the enemy has no success, and these reconnaissance and search operations are more like "combat reconnaissance" to identify the firepower of Ukrainian soldiers, defense features, barriers and obstacles.
In addition, the enemy in the south increased the number of artillery attacks by about a third and also increased the number of kamikaze drone strikes.
