Govt introduces purchases of domestically produced UAVs, EW on permanent basis
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved an important resolution that puts the purchases of domestically produced unmanned aerial vehicles and electronic warfare (EW) systems on a permanent basis, the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine said in its Telegram channel.
"This decision means stability, consistency and predictability for all participants in the process," Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said.
He said the Cabinet of Ministers' decision primarily simplifies procurement procedures: commanders of military units can purchase tactical-level drones and EW systems without unnecessary bureaucratic approvals from the General Staff and other military command bodies.
In addition, access to framework agreements is expanding. Military units have been given the opportunity to join agreements concluded by procurement agencies of the Ministry of Defense and the State Special Communications Service, which will make it possible to receive equipment faster and at competitive prices. "This decision not only ensures promptness in supplying the necessary technologies to the front, but also supports Ukrainian manufacturers, giving them the opportunity for stable development and improvement of products. Now the military will be able to plan their needs more effectively, and manufacturers will be able to focus on technological development and scaling up production," Umerov said.
