Head of the President's Office of Ukraine Andriy Yermak held a meeting with the European Union Commissioner for Defence and Space Andrius Kubilius, the Commissioner was also accompanied by EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarína Mathernová, the press service of the President of Ukraine said on Saturday.

Kubilius has held the post of EU Commissioner for Defence and Space since December 1.

It is noted that the meeting was also attended by Simonas Šatūnas, Head of Cabinet of the EU Commissioner for Defense and Space, and Ramūnas Stanionis, Member of Cabinet of the EU Commissioner for Defense and Space. The Ukrainian side was represented by advisers to the head of the President's Office of Ukraine Daria Zarivna and Oleksandr Bevz.

At the beginning of the conversation, Yermak thanked the EU representatives for the ongoing support provided to Ukraine.

"We know you well and we are thankful for everything you have done and continue to do for Ukraine. I am sure that in this position you will keep supporting our country until the end of this war. And also, on our way to becoming a full-fledged member of the EU," the head of the President's Office said.

It is noted that during the meeting they discussed the situation on the battlefield, the priority needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces and the strengthening of the Ukrainian air defense.

Yermak noted that fruitful cooperation between European countries and the United States of America is critical now, in particular in supporting Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression.

"I believe that we have every chance to end this war with a just peace," the head of the President's Office said.

During the meeting, Yermak and Kubilius discussed ways to effectively counter Russian propaganda.

The European Commissioner noted that Ukraine is defending not only itself, but the entire European continent.

"We all want peace to come as soon as possible. But, of course, we are looking for ways to achieve peace through strength," Kubilius said.
