Shmyhal, Scholz discuss security, finance, sanctions, humanitarian sectors, EU integration issues

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal discussed security, finance, sanctions, humanitarian sphere and European integration issues with Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz.

"We talked about a fair and lasting peace. I said Ukraine's membership in NATO is the only effective tool that can stop the repetition of aggression. Another aspect of security is the defense industry. We discussed the development of joint military production. We have the most such projects with Germany, in particular on the repair and maintenance of armored vehicles and tanks, the production of modern infantry fighting vehicles, air defense systems, missiles for them, etc.," Shmyhal said in the Telegram channel. According to him, they also touched on the topic of strengthening economic cooperation and discussed initiatives that would increase the GDP of both countries.

"I thanked Germany for joining the G7 initiative to support Ukraine by using frozen Russian assets worth $50 billion. It is important to continue to put pressure on the Russian economy and confiscate all of their sovereign assets," the prime minister said.
