Zelenskyy’s talk with Rutte: Our shared goal is to make real and just end to Russian aggression possible as early as next year

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced the details of the conversation with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

“We are coordinating our positions ahead of the upcoming meetings and negotiations this December. Our shared goal is to make a real and just end to Russian aggression possible as early as next year,” Zelenskyy said on X.

He noted that during the conversation, in particular, recent contacts with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris were discussed.

“I reiterated that I appreciate President Trump's decisiveness, and it is exactly what can help. We want to share as many details as possible now with our partners to ensure we establish a lasting and reliable peace through decisions that will work long-term,” Zelenskyy said on X.

He also noted that he appreciates the position of President Macron, “which aligns with other European leaders in our shared goal of making Europe stronger, more capable of defending itself, and better equipped to ensure the safety of its people.”

Europe needs a clear and unique position that will benefit everyone, the President of Ukraine is convinced.

“At every level, we are now discussing how to make our decisions more effective. It is important for the teams of involved leaders to work even more intensively,” Zelenskyy stated.

He stressed the need for more frequent meetings to identify the guarantees needed to achieve a just peace.

“Only Putin wants this war—no one else. We must do everything in our power to ensure he can no longer kill. Peace must be our shared success—Ukraine’s, America’s, Europe’s, and all our partners’,” Zelenskyy concluded.
