Border Guard Service denies reports about Russian forces' attempts to enter Sumy region

Border guard units have not recorded any attempts by Russian units to enter Ukrainian territory in Sumy region, Spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service Andriy Demchenko told Interfax-Ukraine on Tuesday.

"Border units in that direction within their area of responsibility and the positions they hold have not recorded any attempts by Russian units to enter Ukrainian territory," he said.

The spokesperson pointed out that there was also no information about such attempts from other units that are part of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in that direction.

"It should also be noted that on that terrain in Sumy region it is difficult for the enemy to advance, because the terrain is swampy and it is quite difficult to gain a foothold there. However, we must always remember that the border line with Russia is actually the front line, where our Defense Forces hold their positions to counter any attempts of the enemy to enter our territory," Demchenko said.

Earlier, the information that Russian forces managed to enter the territory of Sumy region was spread in the Internet.
