Zelenskyy, Trump and Macron agree to continue working together, keep in touch
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has held a meeting with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron, following which the parties agreed to continue working together and keep in touch.
“I had a good and productive trilateral meeting with President Donald Trump and President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace. President Trump is, as always, resolute. I thank him,” Zelenskyy said on X Saturday.
He also thanked Macron for organizing this important meeting.
“We all want this war to end as soon as possible and in a just way. We spoke about our people, the situation on the ground, and a just peace,” Zelenskyy noted.
According to him, the interlocutors agreed to continue working together and keep in touch. “Peace through strength is possible,” the head of the Ukrainian state stressed.
In comments to journalists after the meeting, Zelenskyy noted the importance of strong security guarantees for Ukraine so that Russia, Putin or other aggressors would not be able to return.
The President pointed out that today Ukraine is in the process of discussing various issues with the United States and other partners and it is necessary to work more, meet more.
"Our teams will also work. It is important. I think it's too early to talk about anything. They understood Ukraine's position. It is very important that the partners know our position from us, and not from someone else. Just peace, any agreements are impossible without Ukraine. The partners hear this. I am very glad that they perceived it," Zelenskyy stressed.
