Kyiv, WWF-Ukraine sign memo of cooperation on environmental protection
The Department of Environmental Protection and Climate Change Adaptation of the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA) and the public organization World Wildlife Fund Ukraine (WWF-Ukraine) signed a memorandum of cooperation, according to the Kyiv City State Administration.
"Together, we plan to work on the conservation and restoration of forests and water bodies, the introduction of energy-efficient technologies in the urban environment, and environmental education. I am confident that this partnership will make a significant contribution to Kyiv's sustainable development," said the Director of the Department, Oleksandr Vozny, in a statement.
The memorandum lays the foundation for joint projects aimed at restoring natural ecosystems, preserving biodiversity, and promoting environmental education in Kyiv. It also opens up opportunities for developing eco-educational initiatives and engaging the public in the implementation of environmental protection solutions.
"Through raising awareness and understanding the importance of environmental preservation, we can work together to improve the city. Special attention will be given to water bodies and forests, as they are key not only to the restoration and preservation of ecosystems but also to the health and well-being of Kyiv residents. We are confident that, thanks to cooperation between society and city authorities, Kyiv will become an example of sustainable development and ecological transformation for other cities in Ukraine," said Valeria Kolomiyets, Director of Ukraine Restoration Projects at WWF-Ukraine.
The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is an independent environmental organization with over 5 million supporters and offices in more than 100 countries. WWF's mission is to halt the degradation of the planet's natural systems and build a future where humanity lives in harmony with nature.
WWF has been implementing projects in Ukraine for over 20 years, and since 2019, it has operated as the national representative of WWF, bringing together civil society representatives and scientists. WWF-Ukraine focuses primarily on topics such as forests, freshwater, and endangered species.
