Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy notes the importance of sanctions pressure on Russia and maintaining Germany's support for Ukraine next year.

"All opportunities to strengthen Ukraine both at the front and in diplomacy must be realized. This also concerns the level of support for Ukraine – it is essential for us that Germany, as the leader of support, does not reduce it next year, and, in particular, financial support – this will be the right signal for all partners," Zelenskyy said in Telegram on Monday evening following a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

"We must also continue the pressure of sanctions on Russia for the war – Putin must not be allowed to adapt to the pressure," the head of the Ukrainian state said.

He also said the key to security on the continent "is geopolitical certainty," which "most European nations already have, but which has not yet been ensured for Ukraine."
