Umerov speaks of assistance amount that Ukraine expects to receive from its allies in 2025
According to the results of numerous meetings and negotiations held in the autumn, it is already known what kind of assistance the Ukrainian Defense Forces will receive in 2025, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said.
"In recent weeks alone, we have held a number of important meetings with allies aimed at identifying key defense needs, analyzing preliminary assistance and developing new formats of cooperation," the minister stressed.
So, he pointed out that next year Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia will allocate 0.25% of GDP each to support Ukraine.
In addition, the UK will continue its program to allocate GBP 3 billion annually until 2031, and Denmark – to allocate EUR 8.7 billion until 2028. In 2025, military assistance from Denmark will amount to EUR 2.2 billion, including joint projects and investments under the Danish model 2.0.
The European Union will transfer the second tranche of military aid worth EUR 1.9 billion at the beginning of the year. These funds will be used to purchase ammunition, air defense systems, missiles and to support the Ukrainian defense industry.
NATO will allocate up to EUR 500 million to Ukraine as part of the Alliance's Comprehensive Assistance Package.
The Netherlands will allocate EUR 4 billion for the period 2024-2026, Germany – EUR 4 billion of direct military assistance, Norway will increase support to NOK 30 billion ($2.7 billion), Sweden is conducting a three-year framework program for SEK 75 billion ($75 billion) or $2.5 billion annually.
The United States will provide $5.5 billion in military aid.
"One of the examples of new alliances is the Northern Group coalition plus Ukraine: 12 countries - Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland and the United Kingdom - are joining forces to strengthen Ukraine's security. We also continue to work actively within the framework of coalitions of abilities in the Ramstein format," Umerov added.
In addition, work will continue on the development of the Ukrainian defense industry.
"We have already created conditions for the production of long-range missiles and drones, the manufacture of 155 mm ammunition, the localization of production of air defense systems, missiles, heavy armored vehicles and artillery, the development of robotic complexes, electronic warfare systems and radars," the minister said.
"Ukraine is confidently strengthening its positions on all fronts thanks to the heroism of our soldiers and the unwavering support of our allies. Together, we are bringing victory over the Russian invaders closer and ensuring security in Europe," he added.
