Head of the Slovak government Robert Fico does not share the position of the United States, which, according to media reports, gave Kyiv permission to use U.S. weapons to strike deep into Russia.

"As the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, I categorically disagree with the decision of U.S. President Biden to authorize the use of American long-range warheads on targets on the territory of Russia with the clear goal of completely disrupting or delaying peace negotiations," Slovak prime minister said in a statement published on his Facebook page on Monday.

He said he had instructed the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the head of the Ministry of Defense "not to support this American decision at any international forum or in any way."

Fico called this "an unprecedented escalation of tension" and said the West wants the war in Ukraine to continue. Moreover, in his opinion, "the EU is not capable of independently formulating fundamental foreign policy positions."
