Death toll in Sumy missile attack rises to 12 – authorities

The number of people killed as a result of an enemy missile attack on a housing area in Sumy on the night of November 17 increased to twelve, Sumy Regional Military Administration has said on Monday.

"The number of people killed as a result of the missile strike against Sumy increased to twelve. All relevant services continue operations to clear the aftermath," the head of the administration, Volodymyr Artiukh, said.

As of 14:00, another victim was reported. Thus, the Russian occupation troops killed twelve people, including two children. Eighty-four residents of the damaged multi-apartment buildings, including twelve children, sustained injuries of varying severity. They are receiving medical care.

"One child has been transported to the capital. He needs a specialized surgery, and doctors are doing their best to save the life," the official said.

According to the regional administration, around ten brigades of volunteer and public organizations, as well as municipal services are engaged in the operations to clear the aftermath of the attack. A total of 2,200 windows in more than 1,000 apartments were damaged as a result of the attack.

As reported, the Russian occupation army struck a densely populated housing area and critical infrastructure of Sumy by a ballistic missile with cluster munitions on Sunday night. Earlier, eleven dead and 84 injured were reported.
