More than 200,000 Ukrainian children attend German schools – ambassador
More than 200,000 Ukrainian children attend schools in Germany today, according to German Ambassador to Ukraine Martin Jäger.
"I am really proud of how good Ukrainians were hosted in Germany. I think, more than 200,000 Ukrainian children attend schools in Germany today, and these children will become an important bridge when it comes to future cooperation between Germany, the EU and Ukraine," he said during an event "Ukraine 2050. Dialogues About the Future" hosted by NV on Thursday.
The diplomat said that Germany has hosted more than 1 million Ukrainians fleeing from the war in Ukraine.
Jäger also spoke about the other types of Germany's support for Ukraine, including military assistance, particularly in the field of air defense. He recalled that Germany has provided Ukraine with three Patriot systems.
The ambassador also noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has a phone call with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz yesterday, during which the latter confirmed the delivery of the sixth IRIS-T air defense system to Ukraine before year end.
"Even more IRIS-T systems will be delivered next year," he said.
