Rutte: We must make sure that military aid to Ukraine continues in winter to pull it out of situation of losing territory

During the coming winter, we must make sure that military assistance continues to flow to Ukraine to pull it out of the situation of losing territory, and so that the Ukrainians can stabilize the front, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said.

At a joint press conference with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Warsaw, Rutte said throughout the coming winter, and in the long term, if necessary, the European Union officials must make sure that defense assistance continues to flow to Ukraine and that they can pull them out of the situation of losing territory, so that they can stabilize the front and then recapture from the Russians what they have lost.

He said the war has taken "a new dangerous turn," with North Korean troops now being transferred to Russia. Putin also receives military aid from Iran to wage war against Ukraine.

The Secretary General said Putin pays with money, and this money is spent by Iran to continue its negative influence in the Middle East and beyond. Rutte added this is increasingly becoming a situation where the Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific regions really have to be seen as one theatre, not two separate ones.

According to Rutte, our security is therefore now increasingly global, and we have to see this as a global issue.
