Villages near Kurakhove not flooded after blowing up of reservoir dam – regional authorities

Villages of the Velyka Novosilka community, Volnovakha district, Donetsk region, in the floodplain of the Vovcha River, were not flooded after the dam of the Kurakhove reservoir in the village of Stari Terny was damaged, Head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration Vadym Filashkin has said in Tuesday.

"As of 4 p.m. on November 12, 15 million cubic meters of water poured out of the Kurakhove reservoir. Fortunately, the villages on the Vovcha River are not flooded. We continue to monitor the situation. In case of significant changes, I will inform additionally," he said on the Telegram channel.

As reported, the Kurakhove reservoir dam in the village of Stari Terny was damaged by the actions of the Russian occupiers on Sunday, November 10. On the same day, the water level in the river rose by 1.2 meters, but no flooding of housing was recorded.

The town of Kurakhove is located on the bank of the Kurakhove reservoir on the Vovcha River. Below Stari Terny, in the floodplain of the Vovcha River, there are villages and settlements Dachne, Shevchenko, Ulakly, Andriyivka, Kostiantynopil, Oleksiyivka, Bohatyr, Zeleny Kut, Novoukrainka of the Velyka Novosilka community, Volnovakha district, Donetsk region.
